The Route
This was an easy 233 mile drive on I-94W except for the first turn. The GPS unexpectedly had us turn right out of the campground. Dick chose to trust the GPS.
We ended up driving on gravel county roads for about 4 miles. Then the road ended and became a private drive. A guard or an owner stopped us. We have no idea how he knew we were on the road. Lookouts?
He said we were the 2nd in the last few months that had been misdirected by their GPS. He agreed to let us pass through to I-94 and guided us out instead of making us go back the way we came.
About the Day
We were reminded last night that this is N-N-N-N-N-North Dakota. It was cold. Blankets and the furnace were used.
We awoke to a crisp, clear, windy day. We had a headwind most of the day. Our mileage dropped about 2.5 mpg.
Along the Way
North Dakota has lots of open space.
The Geese in Flight sculpture at I-94's North Dakota Exit 72 is the World's Largest Outdoor Sculpture. It's 90 feet tall. It marks the beginning of the 32 mile Enchanted Highway to Regent, ND.
Travel Trivia
Our mileage estimate tools are surprisingly accurate. The RV Trip Wizard software we use to find campgrounds estimated our trip today at 232 miles. The car GPS said 231 miles. Our odometer readings said we drove 233 miles.
The Campground
We're at the Red Trail Campground in Medora. We've stayed here before. It's dated and the sites are close together. On the positive side, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the services seem to work well.
Tomorrow
We're going to explore the area for the next two says.
Yay for exploring and flying geese!
