The Route
Today we traveled 226 miles northwest and west. It was 6 miles from the campground to I-94W. We spent most of the day on I-94W. The GPS gave us a shortcut by routing us on MN-52 from Rothsay to Barnesville.
About the Day
The day began pleasantly. We sensed something was brewing because it was overcast early and it felt like rain was in the air. There was a light breeze, the first of the trip.
Along the Way
We got on the road at 10am. The sun appeared soon after. It was sunny until 11:30 and then things got interesting.
We stopped for lunch at a coffee shop in Fergus Falls, MN. It began to rain. It stopped a few minutes before we were ready to leave. It seemed "the waters had parted" for us. The owner told us they hadn't had rain for two months. She appreciated our arrival.
A little later, we were travelling on MN-52 when a torrential downpour hit. It continued until we arrived in Fargo. It stopped a few minutes before we were to arrive at a AAA Travel Center to get some maps. It seemed "the waters had parted for us" again.
Still later, we were within 10 miles of our camping destination and another downpour let loose. It eased by the time we got to Jamestown and had stopped by the time we got to the campground. We were able to check-in and get setup before it started raining again. For a third time today, we didn't get drenched or need an umbrella.
Travel Trivia
I-94W stretches 350 miles from border to border in North Dakota.
The Campground
We're in Jamestown Campground. It's nice, well run, has excellent shore power, and the fastest Wi-Fi service we've seen in a long time.
The entrance is on a dirt service road that is rutted by heavy vehicles. The ride is bumpy. The destination is worth the inconvenience.
Tomorrow
We're off to Medora, ND tomorrow and will stay there through the weekend.
Mr and Mrs Moses!
